Women at the Tomb
This is the Biblical account of the women who went to the tomb of Jesus after his crucifixion and found that he had been resurrected. Jesus' resurrection is recorded in all four gospels; Matthew 28:1-10, Mark 16:1-12, Luke 23:54-24:10, and John 20:1-18.
"And he (the angel) said to them, "Do not be amazed; you are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who has been crucified. He has risen; He is not here; behold, here is the place where they laid Him." Mark 16:6
I tried to capture all the emotions as the women approached the tomb in this painting. Imagine their fear, confusion, and depression after following the Nazarene who spoke the truth and sought to save broken and rebellious people from their sins.
